The purpose of a threat assessment is to promote the emotional and physical safety of everyone, understand the context/ detail of the threat, ensure the response is appropriate without over or under reacting, and determine the likelihood that a threat will be carried out by an individual, group or organization.
Expressions of intent to do harm or act out violently against someone or something by verbal, written, email, text, or gesture, is a potential act of violence. All threats must be taken seriously and investigated until it is determined that the threat is not viable. (Duty of Care)
