Practical Pistol Application 101
Practical Pistol Application Course 101
Never held a handgun before? Haven't been to the range in years? Either way, this class is where you start.
Knowing when you should and shouldn't use your handgun is just as important as knowing how to use it. That's why this course goes beyond marksmanship.
Practical Pistol 101 is our entry-level course, built for people with little or no formal handgun training. No experience needed, no assumptions made, we'll walk you through everything from the ground up.
Here's something we tell every new student: knowing when you should use your handgun matters just as much as knowing how.
So, this course isn't just about hitting a target. We start in the classroom, where you'll learn Arizona and federal firearms law, use-of-force law, mental conditioning, firearm and range safety, and how to think through equipment selection, all in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. Nobody's rushing you, and there's no such thing as a dumb question.
On day two, we head to the range. That's where it all comes together; marksmanship, drawing from a holster, and the different ways to carry concealed.
If it's been a while since you've fired a gun, or since you took your CCW course, this class doubles as a great refresher. You'll walk away current on today's firearm and use-of-force laws, with your shooting skills noticeably sharper than when you walked in.
We spend real time on the fundamentals; stance, grip, aim, and trigger press; because that's what builds accuracy you can count on, not just on a good day at the range, but when it actually matters.
Mindset, gun-handling, and marksmanship get covered in the classroom; then you put it all into practice, live, on the range.
Safe handling is something we reinforce constantly, all the way through both days. At the end of it all, our real goal is simple: we want you to walk away safe, confident, and comfortable with a handgun in your hands. Everything else builds from there.

Practical Pistol 101 runs about 16 hours over two days; part classroom, part live fire on the range. Think of it as your true starting point, and the natural first step before moving on to the next level of training.
